Working with reclaimed furniture provides me with a medium for functional art. “Placing,” it is a concept that I believe to be a part of furniture restoration. The idea that furniture is placed, explains the basic concept of reclaimed furniture. Whether it be in a room, or on the street, furniture can be a personal experience. It brings character into a room and seems pleasing, comfortable or even noticeable for conversation. Thus, the history or “new life” of a piece of furniture is real and interesting. Placing furniture in a room creates order, and serves its purpose as functional art. Placing furniture on the street could mean a new beginning for that piece or an end as it is sent to the city dump. Reusing materials is part of what I do to create a new life for the furniture. These unique pieces offer original, hand-painted finishes and artwork.
